Dr. Rebecca Cormer is licensed in Nebraska as a mental
health practitioner and thus counseling is a growing area within the
practice. Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is the counseling modality
that is most commonly used. The emphasis in SFBT is on creating change in
the quickest most effective manner, thus the term "brief" in the
title. It is not a focus on past problems but on solutions that will work
for the clients now and going forward in their lives. Each counseling
client is treated as an individual, without judgment, with the focus on
what goals they are interested in achieving. Besides SFBT, Dr. Cormer
will bring to the session whatever counseling tools will help to achieve
the changes that will move the client closer to a fulfilling life.
Besides working with the wide range of issues that face people today,
Dr. Cormer also works in a non-judgmental way with gay, lesbian, bisexual
and transgendered clients and those facing difficulties in their lives
around issues of sexual orientation or gender identity. She is a
professional member of the World
Professional Association for Transgender Health.
At this time Dr. Cormer does not offer couples
counseling or counseling with young children.
